During the colder months I turn into a bit of a film hermit. To me there is nothing better than snuggling up in front of a film with a cuppa whilst its raining outside.
I do have Netflix, Amazon Prime and Sky Movies so I don’t think I’m ever short of films to watch. My favourite genre is probably rom-com but sometimes I’m all about a feel good, romance film to just fill me with that warm, fuzzy feeling.
1. Autumn Dreams (Netflix)
I love this film. This is honestly one of my favorite films to watch during the colder seasons because it just makes me feel so warm inside! I don’t want to give it away too much but it’s about a teenage couple, completely in love but their family doesn’t let them be together and then they meet again when they are all grown and they fall back in love all over again!
2. October Kiss (Netflix)
This is a bit of a funnier, chilled out, background kind of film. I have had this on in the background a few times whilst writing blog posts because it so light hearted and cute that you can zone in and out and it still puts a smile on your face. This is about a woman who struggles to commit to anything in her life including jobs but takes a job as a nanny for a business man – obviously they fall in love!
3. Life as We Know It (Netflix)
I love the cast for this film, the actors and actresses in this film are brilliantly cast and I don’t think anyone else could have played it better. This is a film that really makes you think about life and the things that matter. Yes, this film made me cry at the beginning, it isn’t nice but then throughout the film your taken on a proper emotional rollercoaster which pulls you in and fills you with that warm, fuzzy feeling. If you haven’t heard of this film, it is about two godparents raising a baby and they hate each other in the beginning but by the end of it they are in love and a lovely little family.
4. Just Go with It (Sky Movies)
Again, I love the cast for this. Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston are just perfect in every way! I know so many people will know this film and have seen it but it’s so perfect to watch at this time of year. It has sun, sea, sand… everything for anyone missing the summer already. If you live under a rock and don’t know what this film is about, it’s about a player who ends up falling in love with the only person he has ever been honest with in his life.
5. Think like a Man (Netflix)
This film makes me laugh, it’s a proper rom-com! I like films like these because to me it’s so bloody true! Basically this film has a group of men friends, all have a love interest/girlfriend/wife and it shows the different types of relationships and scenarios and stereotypes that are out there. Honestly if you are having a movie night with the girls or even if your other half is into these types of films, give it a watch, I promise you won’t regret it. There is also a sequel.
6. Monte Carlo (Netflix)
I know this film won’t be for everyone, it has a very teenage vibe to it, maybe if you have young sisters/daughters then this would be a great film for them to watch with you. The main character (Selena Gomez) has this dream of visiting Paris, she ends up taking her bestie and her step sister and it doesn’t really go to plan. Anyway, she finds out she’s pretty much identical to a British millionaire, so she takes her place and pretends to be her for an adventure. It is a really nice, feel good film., young girl would love it and I do highly recommend giving it a try.
7. Girls Trip (Sky Movies)
This is one for you to watch with your girlfriends or on your own with a pizza and a glass of wine. I have to admit; this is probably my favorite film right now. The casting is brilliant, the storyline is excellent, the moral of the story and the lesson it teaches is outstanding! This is about a group of friends who go on a girl’s trip and realize they don’t all have it together and have the perfect lives and sometimes you just need your girls!
8. Footloose (Netflix & Sky Movies)
If you are in to dancing or dance films then you’ll love this. I have a hidden passion for everything dance related so this film spoke to me on so many levels, the fact it had a cute, romantic storyline within, just made it that much better! This is about a town that wasn’t allowed to dance and 1 strange boy who moved there from out of town changed it all – and fell in love along the way, with some catchy tunes!
9. Harvest Moon (Netflix)
This is a lot like October Kiss and Autumn Dreams, it’s a lovely rom-com that leaves you with that warm fuzzy feeling at the end. Harvest Moon is about a girl who has a very rich daddy, only she finds out he’s actually broke, she learns she actually owns a farm so goes there to sell it, realizes it won’t sell so tries to give it a makeover and make it more appealing to buyers when she falls in love with the farmer.
10. The Lucky One (Sky Movies)
I only watched this for the first time the other day and the whole way through I was gripped! This film pulled on every single heart string I have and I didn’t want it to end, I found myself needing and wanting more and that isn’t just because Zac Efron is the main character. It’s about a soldier who almost died numerous times but believed a picture of a girl he found was saving him. He goes on a hunt to find her and ends up falling in love with her – duh! There’s so much more to it than that but I really don’t want to give too much away!
Hopefully there is something there for everyone and you give at least one of these films a go!
I hope you are having a warm and cosy night or day wherever you are!
