Life With Pets Q&A | Talk Tuesday

Welcome back for another Talk Tuesday – If you follow me on twitter then you already know all about my pets as I talk about them a lot over there however if you don’t (why not?!) then you probably have no idea how many pets I have or how I cope, that brings me to the topic of todays Talk Tuesday which is living with pets.

Q1. How many pets do you currently have and what are they?
I have 6 cats, 1 dog and a marine fish tank (the fish tank is Kyran’s but they count as pets right?).

Q2. Do you have a favourite pet?
Me and Kyran both have favourites and it works out that no one misses out, so I love the 3 boy cats and he loves the 3 girl cats and then we both equally love our dog, I guess that makes the dog the household favourite right?

Q3. Did you have pets growing up?
Yes I did, I had hamsters, guinea pigs, mice and a dog (not all at the same time).

Q4. What is the most rewarding thing about being an owner?
I love being greeted at the door, the excitement they have to see you is so lovely, you have these little animals that rely on you and need you, they give you purpose.

Q5. What is the hardest thing about being an owner?
There are so many hard things – our boys have been done but our girls haven’t so when they are in season (all house cats) they tend to spray and scent things which means we are constantly disinfecting the house! There is also the constant struggle of pet hair EVERYWHERE!

Q6. How will you cope with losing a pet when Mia is old enough to understand?
I have no idea, I haven’t even really thought about that and its bought a tear to my eye thinking about it. Our dog is very very old so I have no doubt we will have this situation at some point but I don’t know how you prepare for something like that at all.

Q7. Dogs or cats?
This is such a hard question, I am going to say cats because they can come for a fuss but then go off and do their own thing. Our dog is super clingy but also huge and heavy so he just bulldozes his way around the house and doesn’t care who he hurts haha.

Q8. What was your favourite pet you’ve ever had?
Probably my childhood dog Louie, he was a King Charles Spaniel and he was my best friend! He will always have a special place in my heart.

Q9. Which pet has caused you most stress?
I had a puppy with my ex named Whiskey, he was also a King Charles Spaniel and my ex didn’t treat him very nicely, when we split up I kept Whiskey but as life progressed I was never home and he whilst my dad was looking after him it wasn’t really fair on my behalf. I really regret the decision now but I did give Whiskey to a loving family and that was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. No judgment please.

Q10. What is the funniest pet story you have?
I don’t really have any funny pet stories, my cats do things on a daily basis that make me laugh but as for something being a memorable funny story – I don’t have one.

I hope you enjoyed finding out a little bit more about me and my pets, I have never really opened up about Whiskey and what happened before because it isn’t something I am proud of and I would go and get him back if I could!
Emm xoxo

This was a great Q & A post, I love the topic of pets!! You have had a good amount of different pets in your lifetime so far haha, well done! I couldn’t imagine losing one of my pets. My boyfriend and I want a cat when/if we move in together but I’d wanna make sure we’d have enough time to spend with it so it grows in a loving home!! Thank you for sharing Emm!

I can relate to your pets topic wholeheartedly. I can understand what it’s like to have a parent take care of a pet because I was in the same boat when I went away to school. The sad part is both of my dogs had to be given away & to this day I’m so so sad about it. You’re an awesome person for loving & taking care of so many! Keep it up!

I don’t think you should feel guilty about whiskey, you did the best by him by making sure he was well looked after. My two cats came from a broken relationship. The chap cried when he handed them over to me. I’m so glad they came into my life and I definitely don’t judge the couple for having to let them go xx
